If we think back on hunger gatherer humans, food wasn't always available so we would have to make due with what we had; meaning our bodies were condition and designed to survive off moderate amount of food! Today, doctors tell us to eat three meals a day and to snack in between, meaning our bodies are constantly in a state of digest and breaking food down! A simple way to notice how your energy is diverted int he body is to notice how sleepy we start to feel after eating a large meal! Our body is diverting energy from our brain to our stomach to digest the food and break it down, hence why we want to go to sleep after that thanksgiving dinner!
Our bodies function at their best on an empty stomach! So it is important to eat consciously! See how certain foods impact your body differently! Avoid processed, genetically modified, preservative and additive containing foods. Try to incorporate at least 50 percent of raw fruits and vegetables in your diet, this will significantly affect your overall energy and health! The idea behind eating raw is quite simple, "we are what we eat". Do you want to feel alive or dead? Eat foods that haven't been damaged by heat, eat foods which cells are still alive! When we cook food we destroy many enzymes needs for digestion, and our body tries to make up for these and in turn a lot of the food we eat goes to waste.
Naturally when we look at a piece or plate of food we should immediately know whether it is good or bad for us! If we put some food in front of our dog, one sniff and he knows if he wants it or not. Similarly, we have the same ability to differentiate between what's good for the system and what isn't, but we have been too conditioned into believing what we should eat instead of listening to ourselves. If i put a piece of raw meat in front of you and a plate of fruit, you will naturally gravitate towards the fruit. We can only eat the meat once we have tricked our sense by cooking it and seasoning it. I always say, if you cant kill it don't eat it. It takes fruit only a couple of hours to process through the system while it takes some odd 48 hours for meat to pass through the system and similarly with any cooked food -- raw food passes through the system the quickest.
